As part of our Visitor Services team, we're seeking a customer service focused individual to fill our Information Specialist position.
This position will greet visitors to the Welcome Center, provide them with information, literature, and refreshments, maintain stock of tourism materials, and participate in special events to celebrate and encourage Florida tourism.
This position is located at our I-10 Welcome Center in Pensacola, Florida.
Core
Responsibilities:
Provide information and exceptional customer service to visitors at the information desk in the Welcome Center.
Provide literature, maps, directions, road conditions, mileage estimates, and travel advisories.
Provide information about specific destinations, attractions, amenities, or activities.
Greet visitors and provide refreshments to visitors at the citrus counter.
Serve fresh Florida citrus juices as a traditional form of welcome to the State of Florida.
Ensure that juice is cold and fresh and report problems with juice dispensing equipment.
Report count of guests served and guests visiting the Welcome Center.
Track and report daily usage and assist with juice and citrus orders.
Assist visitors in the lobby of the Center and the vending area.
Maintain knowledge of brochure content and placement.
Direct visitors to brochures for certain destinations or activities.
Maintain awareness of Florida destinations, activities, accommodations, and natural and cultural heritage assets.
Plan and implement promotional events and activities related to themed months, in keeping with Visitor Services annual plan.
Plan promotional activities and displays, work with industry representatives, and implement programs and specialty promotions.
Maintain supplies of brochures in assigned display racks.
Monitor inventories of backup brochures, log utilization of brochures, order replacement supplies as required.
Act as a contact point between vendors and the Welcome Center.
Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the VISIT FLORIDA Welcome center Lobby and office area.
May include mopping, sweeping, cleaning, and emptying and taking out trash.
The Florida Welcome Centers' hours of operation are 8 am to 5 pm, seven days a week.
This is a 40 hour a week position with weekend work required.
Staff will be scheduled off every other weekend.
Minimum
Qualifications:

years of equivalent work experience Ability to work a front-line counter and provide exceptional customer service Team player with flexible and positive attitude Must be able to obtain and maintain national certification as a Florida Information Specialist.
Must have ability to lift, move and carry up to 45 lbs.
on a regular basis.
Ability to stand, walk, and freely move for the entire shift.
