$54,000 - $64,000 Job Summary Supervises an Exchange standalone warehouse, or specific work shift or section of a Distribution Center.
Duties and Responsibilities Supervises all activities involved in the receipt, inspection, quality control, ticketing, order picking, consolidation, storage, packaging and shipping of merchandise in and out of the warehouse.
Controls merchandise from receipt until shipment.
Accountable for distribution and/or disposition of all receipts; identifies deficiencies in controls and initiates corrective action.
Administers a quality assurance program to assure acceptance of the quality of merchandise ordered and arranges for return of items which are damaged or are of inferior quality.
Establishes methods for inspecting merchandise to ensure that quality levels are maintained.
Plans the utilization of the warehouse space.
Ensures warehouse work spaces are arranged to maximize storage capacity and work flow efficiency.
Conducts frequent inspections of equipment and work areas; follows prescribed maintenance program and makes recommendations for repair or replacement.
Responsible for the management and safe operation of fleet vehicles.
Includes equipment requirements, maintenance programs, and delivery schedules along with complying with federal, state and DOD regulations.
Provides assistance and guidance concerning maintenance and safety of vehicles.
Reviews cost and performance data to determine operating efficiencies, the efficiency and economy of the motor vehicle fleet, compliance with all established policies and procedures and validity of vehicle authorizations.
Ensures that daily inspections of fleet equipment is performed by operators.
Establishes and monitors preventative maintenance and repair programs for motor vehicles.
Determines maintenance and repair priorities; may establishes maintenance schedules where authorized, reviews and evaluates work-in process and completed work to assure compliance with established standards.
Reviews and analyzes major component repairs; provides guidance as required.
Ensures that daily inspections of fleet equipment is performed by operators along with complying with all federal, state and DOD regulations.
Coordinates training needs of personnel involved in operation of distribution center motor vehicles (with emphasis on Safety and HAZMAT operations).
Collects safe driving information and mileage facts for National Safety Council to remain current on driver award programs.
Plans and schedules work and arranges for necessary equipment and personnel.
Supervises and evaluates the performance of associates.
Recommends the selection, reassignment, and promotion of subordinates.
Resolves grievances and initiates disciplinary action, as necessary.
Ensures compliance with established safety, security, fire prevention and housekeeping procedures and directives.
Supervises and participates in warehouse inventories.
Trains associates and ensures that all material handling equipment operators have current licenses and physical examinations.
Prepares a variety of reports consisting of statistical data used for analysis and evaluation of the effectiveness of the warehouse.
Carries out EEO policies and communicates support of these policies.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
TRAINING REQUIREMENT:
Associate must receive Hazardous Material (HazMat) training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations.
FURNITURE WAREHOUSE SPECIFIC ADDITIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Work closely with store management to support sales/customer pick up requirements.
Maintain 6 day/week operation to support customer pick up.
Maintain holiday work schedule to support customer pick up.
Work with base facilities managers for facility related issues.
Assist customers with loading POV's Work closely with SEDC maintenance on MHE related issues when necessary.
Work closely with SEDC LP/S on security/safety issue when necessary.
GENERAL
Experience:
Three years of experience in administrative, professional, investigative or other responsible work that enabled the applicant to gain general knowledge of one or more aspects of physical distribution support.
Such experience may have been gained in warehousing, purchasing, accounting, inventory control, merchandising, industrial planning, engineering, traffic or data processing.
OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR
Experience:
1 year of related academic study above the high school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4 year bachelor's degree for 3 years of general experience.
AND SPECIALIZED
Experience:
One year of progressively responsible experience which provided a knowledge of distribution and warehouse management systems, and techniques; materiel handling practices and procedures; or experience in one or more areas of storage and distribution activities such as physical receipt, inspection, storage, stock rotation, stock levels and distribution flow to location sites; and exempt or nonexempt supervisory experience; or similar work which demonstrated the knowledge and abilities required to supervise in a distribution environment.
