Fraud & Security Manager Role:
Responsible for understanding and managing PenAir Credit Union's fraud mitigation resources, practices and strategies.
Manage and monitor the effectiveness & remediation of the Physical Security Program.
Provide oversight for and ensures effective and timely deployment of new strategies to mitigate loss and manage risk.
Review and analyze industry trends and changes in the payments and regulatory environment to identify gaps in existing strategies.
Recommend changes to improve program performance, develop and maintain benchmarks and metrics to analyze fraud trends, and collaborate with team members across the credit union to improve program effectiveness.
Essential Functions &
Responsibilities:
45% Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of the Credit Union's services including debit and credit cards, ATM, ACH, draft and wire processing, BillPay, account to account, person to person, etc.
15% Assists in supporting daily operations related to fraud management, including review and processing of alerts.
Coordinates and communicates with appropriate teams and departments to ensure they are adequately informed and trained on fraud detection and prevention best practices.
15% Oversee all aspects of the Physical Security program.
10% Manages development, testing and implementation of new Fraud rules & strategies to improve program performance and enhance member experience with fraud software or programs to mitigate loss.
5% Hires, reviews, schedules, trains, and monitors the work of direct reports; conducts performance reviews; allocates resources to meet operational needs within the department; implements change based on departmental performance and/or internal recommendation 5% Manages the reporting, monitoring and communication of fraud trends and losses.
5% Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements:
Demonstrate and maintain knowledge of new and existing laws affecting the compliance function of the credit union.

Maintain a cohesive, highly trained, motivated staff sufficient to meet daily department demands.
3 Provide professional, timely, and accurate service and support to all members and teammates.
4 Develop recommendations for cost efficiencies and enhancements to policies, procedures, and processes by monitoring trends in BSA/Compliance/Fraud/Quality Assurance/Fair Lending.

Manages vendor relationship for most fraud mitigation products and services.

Participates in user groups, forums and vendor related training to uncover additional opportunities and solutions implemented by industry peers.

Knowledge and Skills:
Experience Five years to eight years of similar or related experience.
Education Equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field).
Completion of an industry certification Interpersonal Skills A significant level of trust, professionalism, and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.
Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature.
Work may involve motivating, influencing or training others.
Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
Other Skills Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing Ability to work independently and as part of a team, problem solve and make decisions.
Must be numbers and detail oriented.
Public speaking Knowledge of the features and benefits of financial institution products and services (to include mortgage products).
Trustworthy with confidential information Strong knowledge of fraud management/investigative processes, knowledge of fraud tools and models; knowledge of bank payment systems.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
